Our group will meet at the Shannon Falls Provincial Park parking lot at 9am on Sunday July 18th, 2010. If there is sufficient parking, we will all park at this lot. Cost is $3/vehicle/day. If the lot is full, there is another parking lot located approx. 1 km further north on Highway 99.
What to bring:
Make sure to bring a picnic lunch to eat when we reach the top. Also, bring plenty of water, maybe 2 or 3 bottles. Bring snacks, power bars, dried fruit and nuts for the way up. If it is sunny, you may want to bring sunscreen and a hat. Also bring some insect repellant as well. Bring a backpack to carry all your items.
Make sure you have plenty of sleep the night before and that you are physcially up to this challenge. The trail can be very steep in some sections with a few flat areas. Wear proper hiking shoes or boots but good runners are okay. Just make sure they are comfortable.
The long range forecast is calling for sunny skies with some cloud cover and temperatures in the high teens and low twenties. This is ideal weather for hiking but you may want to also bring a change of clothes and/or some warm clothing just in case it is breezy and cool up top.
FOR ANY OF YOU WHO DO NOT WISH TO DO THE HIKE YOU CAN REMAIN IN THE MAIN AREA AND ENJOY EXPLORING THE IMMEDIATE AREA AND ENJOY A PICNIC AT THE PICNIC SITE AND WAIT UNTIL WE ALL RETURN.
Please RSVP with your cell phone # and number of persons in your party so we can co-ordinate everything to make sure we do not leave anyone behind.
Don't miss this great opportunity to do some unique exploring and experience the absolute beauty of "Beautiful British Columbia". Our Hike and Team Leaders will be Manley Mah and Peter Young and any of you who have participated with Manley/Peter in any of our past MABC activities will know that you are in for a treat and a good time!
