The late evening started off with signing up, getting to know people by playing the human bingo game, which was to be used for a raffle at the end and a wall of postcards; a new collection for the history of our members.
Event ideas were posted for the Spring and members were welcome to give suggestions. Ice skating, lazertag, karaoke and dinners were amongst the popular ideas.
After mingling for the first part of the gathering, appreciation awards were given to two of our beloved ex-executives; Eunice Koh and Mel Chua who have graduated to become Senior Advisors of the club. Both Eunice and Mel were previous Presidents in the years before. A reference letter as well as engraved medals were given as a token of their hard work, dedication, passion and love for this club.
The first game of the night was Musical Chairs with a twist: Musical Partners! Divided into two groups of Smiley stickers :) and Heart stickers <3, onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JtJxx1mb_DI/S2UX9Oxef1I/AAAAAAAAFu4/p-hhLUtiDx8/s1600-h/DSC_8933.jpg">

Three lovely members: Shan, Sebastian & Elisyha.
Sasha can't find a seat, while Pinky finds a comfortable one on Debby. Louis: "Want to sit on me?"
Sasha: "Okay!"
Wilfred gets close to Shan.
The last remaining couples: Wilfred & Sybil VS May & Mel.
In the end, Wilfred and Sybil managed to oust the Ms out with their fast reflexes and determination to win!

While we waited, another game was started and this time it was called Gum Art! Instructions? Split into groups, and make art out of gum, being as creative as you want. The theme was "Monuments in Singapore & Malaysia"
Team 1 hard at work.
Product? Eye of Malaysia! (PS: Could also be the Singapore Flyer. Also, the red thing at the top right represents the sun haha!)
Team 2: discussing their monument.
Product? Mount Kinabalu! (Or Esplanade, if you view if from a low angle :P )
Team 3: Being creative

Product? The Merlion! (Half lion, half.... Err.. Fish?)
Team 4: Discussing logistics
Product? The Malaysian Twin Towers (KLCC)!
Teams then explained their choice of monuments to the rest of the members for the judges to deliberate.
In the end, everyone was a winner and were all given movie ticket vouchers!
The food shortly arrived after that, and everyone got to eating Beef Rendang, Gado-gado, Roti Canai, Chicken Curry and Char Kwey Tiao, courtesy of Uncle Jamal at Seri Malaysia. This halal restaurant is open everyday except Mondays and is located at 2327 East Hastings.
After the food, a presentation was given by myself and Jeff, the Vice President, outlining our history and our past events, as well as what we want the future of MSSC to be.
It was an exciting end to night with a four present raffle draw which was subsequently won by James Lim (Starbucks planner), Sacsha Buetzer (Cow Notebook), Linda Chang (Tofu moneybank) & Sybil Loo (Vancouver Olympics 2010 Traveling Bottle).
Lovely Linda with her tofu prize!
It was a fantastic night filled with amazing people and food. It was great to see everyone mingling, making new friends and poking fun at one another. A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to everyone who attended because without all of you, we could have not made this event possible or successful.
This symbolizes the amount of energy and shared interest that everyone has for the MSSC and the executive board is very excited to create more fabulous events for our beloved members. Stay tuned!
:)
